Thanks to our dedicated tutors, DDC students receive the opportunity to excel in all subject areas. Often, tutors may be unsure of whether they are teaching high school students too little or too much. Although many school systems vary, the New York State Department of Education holds certain learning standards in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies based on a statewide Common Core Curriculum. These standards arethen tested through subject specific Regents examinations, which the majority of high school students must pass in order to receive a New York State Diploma.
The following pages summarize these basic learning standards for each subject of the Curriculum, as well as provide links to previous Regents exams to give a tutor a better understanding of the type of questions a student is expected to answer. Also provided are links to additional educational resources for a tutor to refresh on material or to refer a student.
