The Columbia University-Harlem Small Business Development Center led by Kaaryn Nailor Simmons has done an outstanding job helping thousands of entrepreneurs interested in opening a small business of their own or looking for assistance with an existing business. It is fair to say that the center has now taken their services to a whole new level by planting a seed with the next generation of business leaders and now partnering with the Double Discovery Center, a non-profit that has an excellent track record working with low-income, first-generation, college-bound youth.

Through paid internships, students will learn marketing, book-keeping, accounting, and leadership skills. It's programs like this that truly make a life-changing difference for many, giving students an opportunity to gain important skills in the extraordinary, eye-opening experience on the campus of one of the best business schools in the world. And that's my view on the bottom line for small business, I'm Robin Walsh for 1010 Wins.
